I’m Buying Land

A thought on doing the things you want to do.

I’m going to go back home — to be the Best Man at my brother’s wedding, to see family and friends, and fulfill all of my obligations for the year.

But when November rolls around, I’m going to go away and I’m not going to come back for a long time.

First, I’m going to do the walk — just to get it out of my system; something I’ve wanted to do for so long but never given the time for it. I’m going to spend about nine months walking the length of the Balkans very slowly. In that time, I’m going to get my fix for Europe out of the way.

But after that, I’m moving back to Asia. I’m moving away to a small island in Indonesia and I’ll keep moving as far east on Indonesian territory as I can get.

And instead of loading my money into the stock market like I was told to — like I’m programmed to do — I’m going to start investing in land in Indonesia in beautiful nature so it can’t be cut down or destroyed — so I can build eco-friendly homes exactly where I want to in the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen.

And I’m going to start living in accordance — not to how people tell me I should live — not chasing some dream of financial stability for a life I’m not even living — not financial freedom which I already have with my lifestyle — but instead living in a place (in a way) that is sound to me. And though there are questions surrounding that choice, it doesn’t make the tried and true lifestyle anymore right.

Because what I need has been right in front of me this whole time. I don’t need more than that.
